Fratellis - Henrietta chords and lyrics

As I eagerly await the new Fratellis album "Here we Stand", I realised I hadn't included chords and lyrics for "Henrietta", the very first single from "Costello Music" ( which as regular readers will know is my favourite album from a new band for many, many years ). I had kinda held off 'cos it's one of those bouncy songs, with staccato bursts of chords, and in the key of B major. Basically the kind of song I'd have run a mile from when I was in the early learning stages.

But I've done my best with it, I transcribed it to A major ( you can put your capo on the 2nd fret if you want to play along with the song, or want to sing it in the right key ). This takes some of the sting out of it by removing some of the tricker chords - if you still have problems with the power chords (A5 etc. ) just play them as standard major chords.

So the staccato burst at the end of the pre-chorus lines could be changed from:

A5-G#5-G5-F#5 to

A-G#-G-F#

If you'r still struggling with the chord changes, just play
the A and the F# e.g.:

D E A F#
Give us a kiss and maybe we can go out

... still gives you a 'buskable' version of the song.
Obviously for your own improvement, playing the tricky
parts is something you *should* do. A song to revisit
when your range of chords and speed of change have
improved, perhaps. But it is a song to be enjoyed, so
you are excused if you want to take the simpler options
for now!

Regina Spektor - Samson chords and lyrics

I had previously worked out and posted chords and lyrics to "Hotel Room" from "Begin to Hope", the fourth album by New-York-based, Moscow-born Regina Spektor. I had always intended that I would work on some of the other songs from this album, but am amazed to discover that the "Hotel Room" post was in May 2007!

So - I've decided to rectify the omission, and have worked out my basic chords and lyrics version of "Samson", another great song from the album. The song is now included on my Miscellaneous Pop Guitar Songs page, which now as 221 songs. The website ( PJs Guitar Chords and Lyrics ) has chords and lyrics to 1,710 songs )

The song is in the key of B major - I have transcribed it to A major to make the chords a bit more playable for learning guitarists ( you can still play along with the CD by putting a capo on the 2nd fret ) - but I've included the version in B for the purists! You can try your hand at playing the song by clicking on the link below
