MGMT "Kids" Guitar Chords and Lyrics

I honestly thought I had worked out the chords for "Kids" a long time ago - when the song was always on the radio. But I received a request on Facebook for the chords of the song, and discovered that it was one of the 'ones that got away'.

It's too good a song not to have on my site, so I've remedied the situation and posted my version of the song chords and lyrics to my Rock Songs guitar chords page on my website. Check it out at the link below:

Guitar chords and lyrics to "Kids" by MGMT

The chords for "Kids" are very simple, F#m, D, A and E throughout, except for the bridge, which also features a B major chord.

Try playing along with the video above, or on Youtube at MGMT "Kids" on YouTube

Chords and Lyrics - Two Door Cinema Club "Something Good can work"

Just heard this song on the radio, although I gather the single has been around for a while. Hadn't heard of the band either, I have to confess - they're from Bangor in Northern Ireland. Their debut album "Tourist History", from which "Something Good Can Happen" is taken, was released in Europe earlier this year, and will shortly be released in the USA. I've just had a few listens, but it's really good, bright pop-rock, I hope to work out a few more of their songs soon.

Although there is fairly electronic mix on the single, it translates really well to guitar, chords are very straightforward - C, G, Am, Em and F - getting the rapid-fire lyrics to synchronize with your guitar playing is the tricky bit!

I have worked a playable version of "Something Good can Happen" and uploaded it to my Rock Songs guitar songs page at the link below:

Guitar Chords and Lyrics - Mumford & Sons "Little Lion Man"

I've only recently had the pleasure of hearing "Sigh no More", the debut album from London "Indie/Folk" band, Mumford and Sons. Although they have been labelled Indie/Folk or Folk/Rock, there sound is unique, not really reminiscent of any of the Folk-Rock bands from the 60s and 70s.

Great melodies, and great lyrics performed on guitar, double bass, banjo and keyboards, this is just such a catchy song I had to learn it!

Easy chords too, Am, C, G, F, Fmaj7 ( x33210 ) - that's it, these chords cover verses and chorus.

I have worked out my version of the chords and lyrics for "Little Lion Man" and added them to my Rock Songs guitar songs page at the link below:

Muse "Uprising" guitar chords and lyrics

Strangely enough, this is the first song I've posted from Devon's finest alternative rockers Muse. I guess I didn't really see them as a 'guitar band', or at least thought their songs weren't suited to early learners and acoustic players. Their earlier stuff sounded very close to Radiohead ( not that that's a bad thing! ), but on their newer songs, particularly the 2009 album Resistance, from which Uprising is taken, they have most certainly stamped their own sound.

Uprising can sound fine without the synth effects, and has only 4 chords - Dm, Gm, F and A, so should be within the grasp of most early learning guitarists.

I've worked out chords for "Uprising" for my Rock songs chords page, you can find it at the link below:

Arctic Monkeys "Crying Lightning" chords and lyrics

"Crying Lightning" is the first single from the Arctic Monkeys 2009 album "Humbug".

The Arctic Monkeys are one of my favourite bands, and even though their quirky manic brand of rock doesn't lend itself terribly well to 'busking' on an acoustic, I've managed to work out pretty playable versions of 8 of their songs, which are on my Arctic Monkeys song chords page.

The most recent of these is "Crying Lightning", you can try out my simplified version of this one at the link below:

Guitar Chords and Lyrics for Arctic Monkeys "Crying Lightning" - new single from "Humbug"

If the video above fails to play, you can play along with the song on This Youtube Link

Though I've tried to present it as simply as possible, it might be a bit of a stretch if you're in the early learning stages. Chords are A, F, G, C, G#, E, Am, and Dm.

You can find the official Arctic Monkeys website at: http://www.arcticmonkeys.com/

Weezer - "I want you to" chords and lyrics

The full song title "If you're wondering if I want you to, I want you to" wouldn't fit in the title bar, for obvious reasons!

Just realised that the last time I posted Weezer song chords to the site ( "Peace" from the 2005 album "Make Believe" ) was over a year ago!

Bang up to date this time tho' - it's the new single (as above) from their brand new album "Raditude". It took a while for this one to grow on me, but it has, I'm really enjoying both listening to and playing the song. If the rest of the album is up to this standard, you can expect more Weezer songs from "Raditude" on my site very soon!

Anywaze, I've worked out my version of the chords and lyrics to "... I want you to" and posted them to my Weezer guitar chords page. It's a really catchy song, I hope you like it, and will have fun playing and singing along.

If the video above doesn't play, you can find the song at this Youtube link

Learn more about Weezer at their official website : weezer.com and CDUniverse have a Weezer page where you can browse their collection of albums and singles, maybe treat yourself to an early Xmas present!

Iron and Wine - Arms of a Thief chords and Lyrics

I have already posted three Iron & Wine songs - "Flightless Bird, American Mouth", "Passing Afternoon" and "16 Maybe Less" to my chords and lyrics website, having been introduced to their music by my lovely daughters.

The more I listen to Sam Beam's voice, the more I like it, so I hope to continue to add more of their songs, beginning with "Arms of a Thief", from their "Around The Well" album, which I've just added to the Rock guitar songs page of my site.

The song is in the key of Eb, but I've transcribed it to D, which makes for a much easier set of chords - Em, D and C - doesn't get much easier than that! If you put a capo on the 1st fret, you can play along with the song, you'll be in the right key.

Check out my chords & lyrics version of "Arms of a Thief" on my Rock Guitar song chords page at the link below:

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots#1

23rd July 06:

Added the wonderful and quirky "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots #1", by Oklahoma psychedelic alternative Rock Band, The Flaming Lips. Very playable, but interesting sequence of guitar chords, and even without the 'interesting noises' on the original, sounds pretty cool just played on an acoustic or electric guitar. Click on the link below to check it out:
http://www.guitarsongs.info/rock.htm#Ys

Also just added chords and lyrics for Bob Dylan's song "Dirge", from the much underrated "Planet Waves" album - can't believe I didn't already have this one, I've played it often enough! Check out the link below:

Midlake - "Roscoe" guitar chords and lyrics

Another 'debut' band for my site! Not that Midlake are a new band ( formed in 1999, according to the ever-reliable Wikipedia ). Hailing from Texas, they list Radiohead, Jethro Tull, Grandaddy and Travis amongst their influences, which was good enough for me to give them a listen.

I liked what I heard too. I could hear the 'Tull influences in "Roscoe", but also, I thought, a hint of the Shins in the vocals and the melody.

The song has a nice gentle flow to it, and with just three chords, is pretty playable, although the chords of G#m, F# and E might be a bit daunting to early learners. If you are among this group, you should learn to transpose songs like this to an easier key, and use your capo ( if necessary ) to bring the song pitch up to the original key.

In this case I would replace the G#m, F# and E with Em, D and C ( in that order ) and put a capo on the 4th fret, so that you're playing Em shape, but actually playing a G#m chord. Check out my beginners guide to chord transposition, you will hopefully find it useful!

I have uploaded my interpretation of Midlake's "Roscoe" to my rock guitar songs page at the link below:

Paul Weller ( The Jam ) - Two Songs!

I had a request ( from a work colleague ), for the chords to Paul Weller's version of the Sister Sledge song 'Thinking of You', from his covers album, "Studio 150"

Having worked out the song and placed it in my Jam / Paul Weller song folder, I discovered that my favourite ( and most people's) Paul Weller song 'You do something to me' was sitting in the folder, but had never been posted to my website! At the time I originally worked out the chords for this, it was a NEW SONG! So, rather late in the day, I've made amends. Both songs are now available on my Jam and Paul Weller song chords page below:

Wannadies - You and Me guitar chords and lyrics

One of the forgotten bands of the 90's, Sweden's The Wannadies' biggest hit "You and Me" is probably best remembered from the soundtrack of "Romeo and Juliet"

Still, it's one of those timeless rock/pop anthems, so having heard the song on radio recently, I thought it would be a good addition to the Rock song chords page on my Guitar Chords and Lyrics website.

Dave Fanning Show RTE 2FM Monday 24th

"No man is a prophet in his own land"

Despite the fact that my chords and lyrics website approaches its 7 millionth visitor, and in fact does receive many visitors from my native Ireland, ( tho' the vast majority are from the USA, UK, Australia and Canada), I was really chuffed to hear that a number of listeners had called the Dave Fanning show tonight to praise PJs Guitar Chords and Lyrics . Unfortunately I was out and missed the programme, but I'll be listening to the webcast tomorrow at www.rte.ie/2fm/davefanning.html

2FM is the 'national' radio station, and Dave has been for many years the coolest DJ in the country. In the early 80's, when my work took me to 'Dooblin', away from my family for long periods of time, listening to Dave playing my kinda music late at night ( after the pubs! ) got me thru many a lonely night.

Dave's been Irelands 'ambassador of cool' ever since, and is respected in the music industry worldwide, interviewing and hob-nobbing with the greats, so it was an honour for me to get a mention on the show - cheers Dave!

If you like the music on my website, and if you're into listening to web radio while you work/play at your computer, the Dave Fanning webcasts are definitely for you ( www.rte.ie/2fm/davefanning.html ). I'm listening to Dave's interview with my favourite artist, the inimitable Tom Waits as I type this.

"I'm kinda livin' upside down these days, I guess".......

The Cake Sale - Some Surprise

I've just added chords and lyrics to "Some Surprise", as performed by Gary Lightbody ( from Snow Patrol ) and Lisa Hannigan, to the site, on my Snow Patrol page :

http://www.guitarsongs.info/snow-patrol.htm

The song is taken from the brilliant new 'Cake Sale' album, which is a fantastic collection of songs written and performed by some of Ireland's best known and most talented artists ( as well as others ), to raise money for Oxfam, the famine relief organization.

This is a great opportunity to help those less fortunate, while doing what we all love to do ... listen to great music.

I'm not especially a big Johnny Cash fan, but I am a longtime Liverpool supporter, and when they released their version of the song by the 'Bootrom Allstars' featuring Ian McCulloch as their 2006 FA Cup ( Winners!! ) anthem, the song came back to mind ( I was old enough - JUST - to remember the original! ).
