~~~~~
I also wanted to let you know of a great event happening on Sunday 20th, on www.imagefm.ca, at 4pm Eastern Time, 9pm GMT. ( Check time for for your zone ).
Having joined MySpace and Facebook several years ago, I have hundreds of band on my friend lists. Of all of these, one Canadian band, "Dame", a progressive-power-pop female trio from Toronto really stood out and sparked my interest almost 2 years ago.
Back in August they won Canada's YouDiscover.ca Band of the Year, beating hundreds of really good bands along the way. Among their prizes were a recording contract, and a fabulous gig supporting Styx for a televised New Years Eve special from Niagara Falls.
In the course of the recording arrangements, there was a name change to "Moeraes Fate" ( Greek legend reference ).
So this Sunday you can watch the band play and celebrate the festive season at their Christmas Special on ImageFm.ca. I'm reliably informed they will be sticking to a Christmas theme, so there should be some fun and frolics.
I wouldn't normally stick my neck out, but I think these girls can be part of the future of Rock Music, which is in sad decline right now. You can check out samples of the songs from their new recording on their MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/moeraesfateband
Set your reminders! Start time is at 4pm Eastern Time, so adjust to your time zone accordingly - it will be 9pm here in Ireland (GMT).
See you there!
The Fray "Over My Head" chords & lyrics
Since the title track of their debut album "How to Save a Life", The Fray have continued to produce songs which are 'instant anthems'. "How to Save a Life" and "You Found Me" are two of the most downloaded songs from my website.
"Over My Head" (Cable Car) has the same timeless qualities, I've worked out a very playable of the song and added it to my Rock Song chords page at the link below:
Guitar Chords and Lyrics to "Over My Head (Cable Car)" by The Fray
It's a great and fun song for even the early learner to play. The chords are generally among the first chords every guitarist learns, G, C, D, Em, and Am, with an Em7 (022030) and G/F# (2x2030).
Play along with the video below:
... or on YouTube at The Fray "Over My Head"
Please take a few minutes to browse the other miscellaneous songs on my Rock guitar songs or Pop guitar songs pages or browse through the list of artists on the left of my Guitar Chords & Lyrics home page and pick some artists who's songs you'd like to play.
The official Fray website is at: http://www.thefray.net/
If you are an early learner, or feel that you haven't yet reached your potential as a guitar player, I have put together a list of cool and useful guitarist resources on my Online Guitarist Resources page, you should really check these out!
Enjoy your music!
John Mayer "Who Says" chords and lyrics
Unlike John Mayer's earlier songs from 'Room for Squares' and 'Heavier Things', or even the bluesy 'Continuum', where I had quite a bit of trouble working out 'easy-play' chords and lyrics versions, the new album 'Battle Studies' seems to have a few tracks which, without taking anything away from the original recording, can be quite easily played on acoustic by guitar players in the quite early learning stages.
"Who Says", the first single from the album comes into this category - I was able to work out a version (using Capo on 1st Fret), with just G D Em A Bm and F# ( ok, on the outro there are also Asus4 - 002230 and G/F# - 2x2003 ), but all-in-all a song that's fun to do, and pretty playable.
I've added it to the list of songs (16 now, from "Your body is a Wonderland" up to "Who Says") on my John Mayer page at the link below:
Guitar Chords and Lyrics to "Who Says" by John Mayer.
Foo Fighters "Wheels" Guitar Chords and Lyrics
The Foo Fighters seem to have been around forever! Actually, their first album "Foo Fighters" was released in 1995.
They recently released their "Greatest Hits" album, and as you listen to the songs again it's easy to see why they are one of the most respected and influential bands on the planet.
I already had ten chords & lyrics versions of their songs on my Foo Fighters guitar songs page, so I've now worked out my version of a previously unreleased track "Wheels" which was included on the new Greatest Hits album, you can check out the chords and lyrics at the link below. Only 4 chords repeated throughout - Dsus2, A, F#5 and E. If you're a learning guitarist and think these chords look too hard, well Dsus2 is just the D major chord with the first string open, and the F#5 can be played as just an F# major chord, with or without the barre.
Guitar chords and lyrics to "Wheels" by the Foo Fighters
Listen to the video (above) or on YouTube - Wheels
There is a whole bunch of great stuff for FF fans on the Foo Fighters official website
Paolo Nutini "Pencil Full of Lead"
Paolo Nutini is certainly one of those artists who grows on you!
I had already posted chords & lyrics for "New Shoes", "Candy" and "Last Request", all of which showcased his serious talent as a musician in the "singer/songwriter" genre, with a great voice and songs falling somewhere between Pop and Rock.
"Pencil Full of Lead" is showing the lighter side of Paolo, it's a fun, rockabilly-style romp, the song, and video ( below ) reminded me more than anything of the re-release video version of Jackie Wilson's "Reet Petite".
I've worked out the chords and lyrics for "Pencil Full of Lead" ( it's a really easy song to learn, only requires chords D,G and A ) and posted them to my Pop Songs chords and lyrics at the link below
Guitar Chords and Lyrics to Paolo Nutini "Pencil Full of Lead"
Paolo's new album, "Sunny Side Up", and his previous record "These Streets" can be purchased online at
