The Shins - New Slang Chords

Watched the film "Garden State" recently and was delighted to hear a great song from Albuquerque's "The Shins" from ( I think ) their first album, called "New Slang", which featured in the movie. I've only recently become a fan myself, so the song sounds as fresh and current to me as their new stuff. I think I've left enough hints to hope that their latest album " Wincing The Night Away" might be in my stocking on Christmas morning ........

You can check out my version of the "New Slang" song at Rock song chords http://www.guitarsongs.info/rock#Ns

NOTE: All Shins songs have now been moved to my new Shins song chords and lyrics page.

Just posted the chords and lyrics to Scotland's finest - The Fratellis - new song 'Whistle for the Choir, from the debut album 'Costello Music', having watched them play it on Jonathan Ross last Friday night. "Last Christmas" Chords & Lyrics

Never thought in the seven years since I uploaded my first songs to the website that I would ever be posting a Wham song! In my defence (a) it's a Christmas song, (b) it was a request and
(c) it's also been covered by Hilary Duff, Whigfield, Manic Street Preachers and Jimmy Eat World, among many others.

"Last Christmas" is one of those songs you will inevitably be asked to play at some Christmas session, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day and for the res.... uups, sorry, wrong film!

Anywaze I have posted the chords and lyrics to "Last Christmas" on my Christmas Songs page at PJs Guitar Chords and Lyrics - Christmas song chords . Give it a go, forget it was a Wham song, and just have fun with it!

I Wish it could be Christmas - Wizzard song chords

Finally sat down and worked out chords and lyrics for one of my all-time favourite Christmas songs - Wizzard's "I wish it could be Christmas everyday". Mainly from memory, with a bit of help from some tabs I found on the net ( get 'em while they're still going! ), which I had to transpose to a (fairly) playable key.

It's not the easiest of songs to play solo on acoustic, fine if you're part of a band with full brass section, obviously! I've indicated some 'optional' chords in brackets, mainly 'step' chords from the end of one line to the beginning of the next, where the sax would normally be playing the little end riffs - but you can play without these if you're playing solo at the Christmas night out, with you're inebriated buddies singing their hearts out! I've always said, nobody appreciates mediocrity quite like the drunken mob!!

Seriously, it is a playable song, my interpretation of the chords and lyrics are on my Christmas Songs page at: PJs Guitar Chords and lyrics - Christmas songs "I Wish it could be Christmas" ( last song on page ). There are a whole bunch (47 to be exact ) of Carols and other seasonal songs on the page, from the classics thru the pop range, including Slade, Darkness, John Lennon, Live Aid, Chris Rea - all the good stuff.

I know it's mid-November, but if you plan on Carol singing, or just want to add some fun holiday songs to your repertoire, you should be practicing NOW!

America - Razorlight guitar chords and lyrics

London's Razorlight have been blazing the charts and making the world sit up and notice over the past year or so. I'd have to say I thought 'In the Morning' was a more typical, bouncy rock song than 'America', their latest single, but it's a good song nonetheless, and I've added my version of the chords and lyrics to my 'Razorlight easy songs for guitars' page:

John Mayer-Waiting on the World to change song chords

I've been listening to John Mayer's third album "Continuum", it's taken a while to absorb, but I think it's a worthy successor to "Room for Squares" and "Any Given Thursday".

I've worked out my version of the chords & lyrics to "Waiting on the World to Change", you can check them out on my John Mayer page: PJs Guitar Chords and Lyrics - John Mayer song chords

Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum

The Arctic Monkeys are one of the few bands to really make me sit up and take notice in the last year or so. Another song posted from their brilliant album "Whatever People say I am, that's what I'm not" album, this time it's the excellently quirky 'Mardy Bum'.

It's another of those songs that's fun to play - you just have to make up your mind to either adopt the accent to go with it, or have even more fun doing it in your own ( you wouldn't wanna hear my version with a heavy Irish twang..... )

I've just posted the chords & lyrics to my Arctic Monkeys guitar chords page, check out the link below.

Amazing Guitar Lessons - relaunch ends today!!

June 16th 2006 - Update

*** This promotion ends today, June 16th

If you want to take advantage of the really valuable bonus items available during the launch, and guarantee getting your copy of this great guitar lessons resource at the old price, you should click on this link: AmazingGuitarSecrets now, while the offer is still open (ends midnight tonight)

*** See below for details

Part of my mission with www.guitarsongs.info is to find other
really useful guitarist resources and pass them on to my website
and blog visitors.

Back in November, I published a post singing the praises of a great new resource - AmazingGuitarSecrets, and have had dozens of kind emails thanking me for the 'heads-up'. It is still the most complete and comprehensive guitar lessons course I have seen anywhere on the net.

So this is to let you know about an 'event' - the relaunch by Dan Denley of this great learning program with more functionality, more material and, for the duration of the launch ( June 9th to June 16th ) a really valuable and 'amazing' set of bonus items ( some of this are time-sensitive, 'earlybird' offers ). The old pricing structure is being maintained for the launch period too - with that kind of value for your buck, I would strongly advise checking it out at:

AmazingGuitarSecrets.Com while the special deal is still live.

( Note: there is a lot of copy on the promotion page, I think Dan is a fantastic guitar teacher, but is maybe over-enthusiastic as a promotor!. He has a lot of audio testimonials from happy subscribers - you might want to take these 'as read' and skip down to see what the course really can do for you - and which bonus items are still available. )

The link again is AmazingGuitarSecrets.Com
You really should check it out, but don't wait too long, event ends on June 9th.

Enjoy your music,

PJ

Pentatonic scales e-Book - Free!

I've found an amazing free e-Book that I'm sure you will want to know about, if you're a learning guitar player.

At first, I thought it was too good to be true, like most things are. But I have to admit, it really has exceeded my expectations big-time.

And here is the best part:

1) You can have it in your hands in about 60 seconds

2) It will not cost you a cent

3) There is no 'catch'

It's a 40-page, e-book on the pentatonic scales. And it is not just ANY book. It is actually one of the best e-books I have ever seen on the subject. I've featured a few short articles on Pentatonic scales in my newsletter in the past , but this is pretty much 'the Pentatonic scales bible'.

The reason I like it soooooo much is because it teaches you all three forms of the pentatonic scale: major, minor and blues.

And it teaches them in a way that most books do not. It shows you how to play each scale in all five positions. And knowing all the positions allows you to solo over the *entire* fretboard (instead being stuck in one position).

Another cool thing is that there are real-world, practical examples on how to use the scales to play a simple solo. And it includes several chord progressions that you can play over.

Anyway, the whole things is VERY well put together. And the best part is, it will cost you .... nothing!. And there is no "catch"

So, go grab your copy and let me know what you think!

Ring of Fire - Liverpool FA Cup song

I'm not especially a big Johnny Cash fan, but I am a longtime Liverpool supporter, and when they released their version of the song by the 'Bootrom Allstars' featuring Ian McCulloch as their 2006 FA Cup ( Winners!! ) anthem, the song came back to mind ( I was old enough - JUST - to remember the original! ). Anywaze, I've posted it to my 'Old Stuff' page

Beatles - I'm So Tired

Listening (again) to the Beatles' White album, I realized I've posted many Beatles songs to my Guitar Chords website, but very few from this epocryphal album. To begin the process of setting this right, I've posted "I'm so Tired to my "Beatles guitar songs" page, just click on the link below:

Lots of Beatles songs sound better with piano - if you're interested in playing piano there is a great website which can teach you to play by ear, and recognize patterns which repeat in hundreds of songs, so you can be playing your favourite songs within a few days. The site is called Hear-And-Play, and you can see for yourself at the link below:

I didn't watch American Pop Idol, so I never expected that I wouldn be posting any songs by any of the contestants, but the Kelly Clarkson song "Because of You" is a really strong song, and has a nice set of chords, which aren't too difficult if you use a capo.
