Mumford and Sons "The Cave" Guitar chords and lyrics

This is the second song I've worked out from the recent and brilliant "Sigh no More" album by London's "indie/folk/rock" band Mumford and Sons.

"The Cave" is the 3rd single from the album, and (so far) my favourite song, with the deceptively quiet folksy opening building up to raucous anthemic choruses.

Once again, it's quite an easy song to play. I've tabbed the little riff around the D chord from the intro and at the start of each verse ( indicated as D* in the song transcription ). Other than that it is basically D, Bm, A and G chords covering the verses and the chorus.

I have worked out my version of the chords and lyrics for "The Cave" and added them to my Rock Songs guitar songs page at the link below:

Chords and Lyrics - Two Door Cinema Club "Something Good can work"

Just heard this song on the radio, although I gather the single has been around for a while. Hadn't heard of the band either, I have to confess - they're from Bangor in Northern Ireland. Their debut album "Tourist History", from which "Something Good Can Happen" is taken, was released in Europe earlier this year, and will shortly be released in the USA. I've just had a few listens, but it's really good, bright pop-rock, I hope to work out a few more of their songs soon.

Although there is fairly electronic mix on the single, it translates really well to guitar, chords are very straightforward - C, G, Am, Em and F - getting the rapid-fire lyrics to synchronize with your guitar playing is the tricky bit!

I have worked a playable version of "Something Good can Happen" and uploaded it to my Rock Songs guitar songs page at the link below:

Guitar chords and lyrics - Greenday "21st Century Breakdown"

Greenday have had some musical 'ups and downs' since releasing their first album "Smooth" in 1990, with subsequent albums being met with varying critical acclaim.

I have to admit to not being a big fan of "American Idiot", though I did work out and publish chords and lyrics for the title song and also "Holiday", "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" to my Greenday song chords page - just one of those albums with a few gems, and some fairly forgettable songs.

Their latest album, "21st Century Breakdown", although once again very much a "Themed Album" in the same style as "Idiot"m I think has a much better selection of punchy punk/rock songs.

I had already worked out my version of "21 Guns", and added it to my Greenday guitar chords site page. A little later than intended, I've now also worked out chords and lyrics for the latest single and title-track "21st Century Breakdown".

For early learners, or anyone who wants to play this on acoustic, the chords, while basic enough, could be a bit tricky ( C#, G#, F#, Bbm and G#/C ) While I've chorded the song using these chords, I've also worked out an easier set ( C, G, F, Am and C/B ( x2x010 ) - if you put a capo on the 1st fret using this set of chords you can still play along with the song.

I've posted both versions of "21st Century Breakdown" to my Guitar Chords & Lyrics website, on the Greenday page.

BTW - If you are a wannabe lead guitar player, you really should check out James Todd's Guitar Leads website, it is a really excellent resource for guitarists of all levels to acquire or improve their lead guitar playing skills.

CD Universe have all of the Greenday CDs and DVDs - Greenday music page

Guitar Chords and Lyrics - Mumford & Sons "Little Lion Man"

I've only recently had the pleasure of hearing "Sigh no More", the debut album from London "Indie/Folk" band, Mumford and Sons. Although they have been labelled Indie/Folk or Folk/Rock, there sound is unique, not really reminiscent of any of the Folk-Rock bands from the 60s and 70s.

Great melodies, and great lyrics performed on guitar, double bass, banjo and keyboards, this is just such a catchy song I had to learn it!

Easy chords too, Am, C, G, F, Fmaj7 ( x33210 ) - that's it, these chords cover verses and chorus.

Crosby Stills Nash and Young "Our House" chords and lyrics

Ok, probably one for the more 'mature' Blog visitor, but Crosby Stills and Nash are touring again, and a lot of their old songs are getting airplay. I know, it's not quite "rock'n'roll", but the song is just evocative of the whole "Peace and Love" era, I've always liked it, and it's a fun song to play, especially if you have a bunch of friends who can do the harmonies!

The chords are straightforward enough, G, G/F# ( 2x0003 ), Em, C, Am, D, Bm, Em7, with just an Eb (D#) thrown in at the end the verses for effect.

I've added my chords and lyrics version of CSNY's "Our House" to my Neil Young guitar songs page at the link below:
