The Fratellis - Mistress Mabel chords and lyrics

I suppose it's inevitable, when you are bowled over by a band's debut album, that it can take a while to warm to the second one. I've only had a chance to have a couple of play's of the Fratellis "Here we Stand", the songs are great, but I kinda feel that Jon has toned down his raw, manic vocals just a bit. In fairness, I need to listen to the album a few more times.

Nothing wrong with the first single from the album. "Mistress Mabel" stands up there with the best from "Costello Music".

I've worked out my 'chords & lyrics' version of the song, and added it to my Fratellis song chords page:

The Fratellis guitar chords and lyrics

The song is in the key of B, and I had originally intended to transcribe it to A or G, and advise using capo on 2nd or 4th fret. But it's just meant to be played in B, doesn't sound nearly the same otherwise. Most of the song is covered by B, E, E7 and F#, so it's a great song to practice playing the B major chord, which I know many early learners tend to avoid like the plague!

If you do find it daunting, you can try using the capo on the 2nd fret and playing:

Verse: A D (x4)
A D7 (x2)
A D (x2)

Pre-chorus: D E (x2)

Chorus: A E (x2) D C D
