Bat for Lashes - "Daniel" guitar chords and Lyrics

I had been aware of "Bat for Lashes" for quite a while, they'd played Glastonbury in 2007, won the ASCAP Vanguard award the same year, toured with Radiohead and was nominated for two Brit Awards last year, but I only heard them for the first time on "Later with Jools Holland" on BBC TV, singing "Daniel". Either they aren't getting the radio coverage they deserve, or I'm not listening to enough radio!

I think they are a great band, and this is a great song! Just checking out Wikipedia's page for the band, comparisons have been made with Bjork, PJ Harvey, Annie Lennox, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Stevie Nicks and Dolores O'Riordan. Not bad company to be keeping!

The song itself is really melodic and moves along at a nice pace. The version I heard was in the key of E / G#m, but I've transcribed it to G / Em, which means the chords are a more playable set of Em, G, C, Am. These are repeated throughout both verse and chorus, making it a really easy song to learn and play. Just put your capo on the 4th fret and play the 'G' chords as indicated, and you will be able to play along with the 'real' version in E major / G minor.

I've posted my version of the song to my Pop Guitar Songs page at the link below:

As soon as I started playing it based on your tab, I realized that "Daniel" is the same chords as the verses to The Cure's "A Forest".

I think it fits slightly better with a Gm chord rather than a G.
