The Script "Science And Faith" guitar chords and lyrics

While the album "Science and Faith" pretty much put Irish band The Script on the global map, hitting No. 1 in UK and Irish charts, and #3 in the US charts, the single of the same name, last single released from the album, seems to have fared less well. I think it's right up there with their best songs - I've worked out a chords and lyrics version and posted it to my Rock songs guitar chords website page.

You can check it out at the link below, and I've embedded a video of the song, in case you'd like to try playing along:

Guitar Chords and Lyrics - Cee Lo Green "Forget You"

This has gotta be the classic pop/soul song of 2011! I'd never heard of Cee Lo Green before this, but I gather from Wikipedia that he was half of Gnarls Barkley, who had had a UK and US number 1 previously with "Crazy"

"Forget You" ( originally titled "F**k You", but very sensibly toned down to get radio exposure! ) is a tongue-in-cheek lyric, bemoaning the fact that he can't get the girl 'cos he ain't got the money, but surging along on an almost 60's Motown feelgood rhythm and melody.

I figured this one would probably be a "must play" cover for all guitarists who play at work / friend / family sessions ( most probably using the original lyrics ... ), so I've worked out a chords and lyrics version which is very easy to play, even for beginning guitarists. Basically it is C major, D7th, F major and back to C most of the way thru.

There is a bridge which has E minor, A minor, F major, G major and D minor ( there is a little bass "walk-up" from the Am to the Dm if you can manage it, but you'll get away without it - chances are your audience will be singing along so loud they won't notice! )

I've posted my chords and lyrics version of "Forget You" on the Guitarsongs.info Soul, R&B page at the link below:

Travis "Humpty Dumpty Love Song" Chords and Lyrics

I had previously worked out and posted chords and lyrics to Travis' "Flowers in the Window", "Side" and "Sing" from their "Invisible Band" album to my Travis song chords page, but had never actually listened to the album, other than those three singles.

My niece recently posted a YouTube video of the song "Humpty Dumpty Love Song", which is the last track on the album, and is actually one of the best Travis songs I've heard yet.

Chords are interesting, and not too tricky, verse is: C, G, Em, Am, F, Fm, C ; Chorus is just Am and C, and the Bridge is A, Dm, Dsus4, G7 and G. I have diagrams of all of the chords included.

I've added my transcription to the other nine songs on my Travis guitar chords page, you can find them all at the link below:

Paramore "The Only Exception" Guitar Chords and Lyrics

Yet another debut band ( for my Blog and Website, that is! ). Paramore are a Tennessee, USA band who have been around since 2004, have released 3 hit albums and been nominated for numerous Grammy and other awards - I just somehow haven't gotten round to listening to their songs that much, so this is my first attempt to work out an easy, chords and lyrics version of "The Only Exception", the third single from their 2009 album "Brand New Eyes". Lovely song, with gorgeous lyrics from Hayley Williams.

The song is in the somewhat tricky key of B major, and doesn't exactly use a standard pop/rock sequence of chords, but I think I've come up with a very playable version, even for early learning guitarists. I've changed the key from B major to G major - if you put your capo on the 4th fret this will bring your sound back to the original key. Intro, verses and chorus are all: G, Dm and Cmaj7 ( 332000 ), there is a Bridge which uses Am, G, and D, and an Outro with F, C, and G.

My guitar chords version of "The Only Exception" has been uploaded to my Pop songs chords page, you can find it at the link below:

Paulo Nutini "Worried Man" Guitar Chords and Lyrics

This is Paolo's version of the old classic Folk/Blues song "Worried Man Blues", as recorded and performed by Woody Guthrie, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and many others.

I had a request for chords and lyrics for the song from Catherine, and was about to reply with the link to the song on my Folk song chords page, but discovered that I had never posted it!

In any case, Paolo had of course put his own stamp on the song, and not only changed the tempo and style, but also the lyrics and chord sequences!

So I've worked out Paolo's version, which I have posted to my Paolo Nutini song chords page, at the link below. I will revisit the original "Worried Man Blues" classic as soon as I can, and add it to the Folk page.

Florence & the Machine "Dog Days" chords and lyrics

Surprised it has taken me so long to post my first 'Florence and the Machine' song chords and lyrics, given that the brilliant debut album "Lungs" hit #1 in the UK charts in January, and won the Best British Album at the 2010 Brit Awards.

I have now worked out chords and lyrics for the second single from the album "Dog Days are Over", really simple chords, just G, E minor and A minor - pretty much the first three chords a guitar beginner will learn.

Having been a bit slow off the blocks, I will certainly be working out some more of the songs from this album, and will post them to the site soon, meanwhile I've added my interpretation of "Dog Days are Over" in simple chords and lyrics format to my Rock songs chords page, just click on the link below:

Greenday - "21 Guns" chords and lyrics

Greenday were the one of the bands who got me back into listening to music again in the 90s, with their punchy songs and anthemic choruses.

I wasn't a huge fan of their "American Idiot" album, although I did post the chords and lyrics for the title song plus "Holiday", "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" to my Greenday song chords page - just one of those albums with a few gems, and some fairly forgettable songs.

Their latest album, "21st Century Breakdown", although again it's a "Rock Opera", I think it's overall a better collection of songs, I hope to work out a bunch of playable versions over the next few weeks.

For the moment I have transcribed and added "21 Guns" to my Greenday guitar chords site page. The chords are not too tricky, being Dm, A# (Bb), F and C, with a D thrown into the chorus and an A# minor ( Bb minor) appearing in the bridge. It's quite a slow tempo song, so even early learners get a chance to make the chord changes in time!

You can find "21 Guns" on my Guitar Chords & Lyrics website, on the Greenday page.

If the embedded video above doesn't play correctly, you can check it out on this YouTube - Greenday 21 Guns link.

BTW - If you are a wannabe lead guitar player, you really should check out James Todd's Guitar Leads website, it is a really excellent resource for guitarists of all levels to acquire or improve their lead guitar playing skills.

Bat for Lashes - "Daniel" guitar chords and Lyrics

I had been aware of "Bat for Lashes" for quite a while, they'd played Glastonbury in 2007, won the ASCAP Vanguard award the same year, toured with Radiohead and was nominated for two Brit Awards last year, but I only heard them for the first time on "Later with Jools Holland" on BBC TV, singing "Daniel". Either they aren't getting the radio coverage they deserve, or I'm not listening to enough radio!

I think they are a great band, and this is a great song! Just checking out Wikipedia's page for the band, comparisons have been made with Bjork, PJ Harvey, Annie Lennox, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Stevie Nicks and Dolores O'Riordan. Not bad company to be keeping!

The song itself is really melodic and moves along at a nice pace. The version I heard was in the key of E / G#m, but I've transcribed it to G / Em, which means the chords are a more playable set of Em, G, C, Am. These are repeated throughout both verse and chorus, making it a really easy song to learn and play. Just put your capo on the 4th fret and play the 'G' chords as indicated, and you will be able to play along with the 'real' version in E major / G minor.

I've posted my version of the song to my Pop Guitar Songs page at the link below:
