The Fratellis - Mistress Mabel chords and lyrics
I suppose it's inevitable, when you are bowled over by a band's debut album, that it can take a while to warm to the second one. I've only had a chance to have a couple of play's of the Fratellis "Here we Stand", the songs are great, but I kinda feel that Jon has toned down his raw, manic vocals just a bit. In fairness, I need to listen to the album a few more times.
Nothing wrong with the first single from the album. "Mistress Mabel" stands up there with the best from "Costello Music".
I've worked out my 'chords & lyrics' version of the song, and added it to my Fratellis song chords page:
The Fratellis guitar chords and lyrics
The song is in the key of B, and I had originally intended to transcribe it to A or G, and advise using capo on 2nd or 4th fret. But it's just meant to be played in B, doesn't sound nearly the same otherwise. Most of the song is covered by B, E, E7 and F#, so it's a great song to practice playing the B major chord, which I know many early learners tend to avoid like the plague!
If you do find it daunting, you can try using the capo on the 2nd fret and playing:
Verse: A D (x4)
A D7 (x2)
A D (x2)
Pre-chorus: D E (x2)
Chorus: A E (x2) D C D
If you haven't already got this album you can buy it online at this CD Universe Fratellis music link - "Costello Music" is also available there.
Check out the Fratellis official website at: http://www.thefratellis.com

Tom Waits, John Kongos songs
Two new songs added to the site, the delicious "Singapore" by the inimitable Tom Waits, and a probably lesser known song: "Tokoloshe Man" by John Kongos.
My love of Tom Waits music is probably pretty obvious by now! Much of his stuff is difficult to translate just for guitar, but I've done my best with "Singapore", great song!
You can find my interpretation on my Tom Waits page:
http://www.guitarsongs.info/waits.htm
Younger visitors are probably saying "John WHO??". But if you haven't heard Kongos' early 70's 'Jungle Stomp' songs, you should really try to get hold of both "Tokoloshe Man" and "He's Gonna Step on you again" ( covered by Def Leppard, among others ) - the songs are available on iTunes according to www.johnkongos.com. His "Tribal Stomp" sound was, I believe, the first use of authentic African music fused with rock, well worth checking out.
Both songs are posted on my "Rock Songs" page, at:
http://www.guitarsongs.info/rock.htm#Hs ( "He's gonna step..." ) and
http://www.guitarsongs.info/rock.htm#Ts ( "Tokoloshe Man" ).

John Mayer - "Say" chords and lyrics
To be honest, working out versions of John Mayer songs suitable for learning to intermediate guitar players is quite a challenge, but his latest song "Say", from the film sountrack of "The Bucket List", is a really nice, melodic song, and with the use of the learning guitarist's best friend, the Capo, can be played with very basic chords - G, C, D, Em and Am7
I've worked out my interpretation of the song which you can find on the link below:
Chords and lyrics for John Mayer songs
"Say" has been added to the re-released versions of John Mayer's third album "Continuum", from which I've already included chords for "Waiting on the World to Change". There are now 15 songs on the John Mayer page (above).
Find out more about John Mayer on his website: http://www.johnmayer.com/ and on Wikipedia's John Mayer page
You can sample and purchase John Mayer CDs, DVDs etc at the CD Universe page below:

Weezer - 'Pork & Beans' chords and lyrics
For my most recent post of a Weezer song, I went all the way back to 1994 with "Suzanne" from the original eponymous "Weezer" ( known as the "Blue Album" ).
Well, the boys are still going strong, and this time I have worked out my interpretation of their new single "Pork and Beans", from their second album with the main title of "Weezer", but which is known as the "Red Album".
Althought there are 14 years, a bunch of great albums and 22 singles seperating the two, Weezer have managed to retain the charm of their old sound, without compromizing or sounding repetitive. It makes me think of all of the promising bands who have tried too hard to keep their sound changing, usually ending up losing the old fan base along the way, without creating a new generation of loyal fans.
Not that Weezer haven't made innovative changes along the way, but just that they have never strayed too far from the sound they obviously were formed to create. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I've worked out my version of the chords and lyrics to "Pork and Beans" and posted them to my Weezer guitar chords page. It's a really catchy song, I hope you like it, and will have fun playing and singing along.
Weezer's official site is at : weezer.com and you can check out their album and singles list on their CDUniverse page

Colbie Caillat - "Realize" chords and lyrics
Colbie Caillat ( pronounced like 'ballet' ) is probably the first performer to become famous via the social media. Her MySpace page was a huge success, and she was "No. 1 unsigned singer" for three months. Shortly afterward, she cracked the US charts, hitting #1 with the brilliant "Bubbly", which had had over 22 million plays on her MySpace page.
I posted my version of the chords and Lyrics for Bubbly back in April, and have now worked out my interpretation of her latest single "Realize" which got to #2 in the US charts recently. I still find it strange that she's having virtually no success on this side of the pond?
For those who are familiar with these songs, and would like to attempt playing them, I have worked out fairly easy to play versions which you can reach at the links below:

KT Tunstall - Saving My Face chords and lyrics
KT Tunstall, Edinburgh's finest ( and prettiest! ) rock star, has come a long way since her appearance on "Later with Jools Holland" shot her to fame with "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" ( for which she won a Q Music Award for 'Best Track' )
I have worked out my interpretation of the chords and lyrics from her #1 UK single "Saving My Face", from her latest ( and absolutely brilliant ) "Drastic Fantastic" album - you can check out the song on my KT Tunstall guitar chords page, below:

Wilco - guitar chords to Heavy Metal Drummer & Break Your Heart
Having been introduced to Wilco by my daughters, who are big fans, I posted 'Either Way' from last year's "Sky Blue Sky" to my Miscellaneous Rock Guitar Songs page some months ago.
Since then I've been listening to them on and off, and have particularly taken to the "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" album, all great songs.
I have recently posted my interpretations of the guitar chord and lyrics for both "Heavy Metal Drummer" and "I am Trying to Break your Heart", both from Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, also to my Miscellaneous Rock Guitar Songs page at the links below:

10 Million guitarists can't be wrong!
On Wednesday 5th July, I received the 10 millionth visitor to my website ...... 10 MILLION!!
I was delighted, humbled, proud... and pretty much gobsmacked! That's more than twice the population of the country I live in! Ten million visitors - that's a lot of tea and biscuits!!
Certainly not what I expected when I created the site as a hobby/experiment back in 1999. And quite an achievement for a one-man, (very) amateur outfit competing for traffic with some very large 'company' guitar sites.
Apologies for blowing my own trumpet there, but it is a huge landmark for me.
Anywaze, since my last post I have issued the monthly guitar newsletter with 10 songs added to the site, some more guitar tips, recommended online guitar and music resources and latest news. I've published it online at http://www.guitarsongs.info/news.htm - the new songs are from Pink, Christy Moore, John Kongos, Raconteurs, Sheryl Crow/Sting, Tom Waits , The Shins, Jack Johnson , Bob Marley and Keane.
I hope you find it useful, and thank you for your continued support of the website, and for helping me achieve this amazing milestone.
Enjoy your music,

Aqualung - Strange and Beautiful guitar chords
I had previously posted just one song from Aqualung ( aka Matt Hales ) - which was the classic "Brighter than Sunshine", from the "Still Life" album, posted on my Miscellaneous Rock Guitar Songs page
Strange and Beautiful was actually the debut Aqualung single, from the "Aqualung" album, but both songs feature on the first Aqualung US album, also titled "Strange and Beautiful", which was my first introduction to the band/artist, and consisted of selected songs from the two earlier albums.
If you're not familiar with the music, the sound is kind of a cross between Radiohead, Wilco and The Shins. Check out some of the songs on YouTube, if you like 'em, see if my interpretations are useful in helping you to play the songs.
You can check out my version of the chords and lyrics for "Strange and Beautiful" at the link below:

Kings of Leon - On Call chords and lyrics
This is my third attempt at 'chording' a Kings of Leon song - following on from "Bucket" ( from the "Aha Shake Handbrake" album) and "Fans" ( from "Because of the Times" ) both of which you can see on my Miscellaneous Rock Guitar Songs page
"On Call" is one of the other singles from "Because of the Times". It's a challenging enough song vocally, but I've worked out a pretty playable version with just 3 chords - G, Bm and Em. Click the link below to try it out:
